This blog has officially jumped the shark to it's own domain. Well, it's actually a sub domain. That is shared with other sites. But nevermind the details, here is the important part:
Well I did it. I actually grew the juevos and went and bought a drum kit. Last year. Yes, as in 2007. March(ish). Me and my son drove to Savannah, GA to pick it up. We left at 6am and didn't get back home until 6pm (or later). It was a fun adventure that we still talk about to this day. The drums stayed setup in my storage building for awhile. But between the dust and moisture, they were getting fubar'd up. So now they are in a safe place, yet disassembled. I've been threatening to break them out again and set them up in the house. Haven't sprouted those juevos yet however. I'll see if I can get some pictures on here.
Reading back over my posts from yesteryear, I realized something. This is MY blog. It has post relevant to items I am interested in. And it's over three years old. Not long after I started this blog, major changes began happening in my little world. Mainly the addition of three wonderful children. I've tried to keep this blog impersonal to an extent, but that' ridiculous. I guess my insecurities say there are just certain people that I don't want to know too much about me. But that's ridiculous too. So look out world, bdp is back in town.
Huh? Who is that posting on my blog? Oh, wait. It's me. Wow, how time flies when you are too damn stupid to write snappy blog posts anymore. Well, it's now 2008 and I'm another year older and have much fewer brain cells than this time last year. I'm going to try to dig up some interesting crap to post on ye olde brokedown palace so be sure to keep tuning back. And sorry, the link to music files are gone. So there goes my hit count down the drain.
As you may know, I am a huge Grateful Dead fan. Over the last few months I have accumulated a buttload of shows (around 250 to be exact), mainly from kind people at great sites like phishhook , the vine factory (poopoo on them), and let there be vines. Well, it's been quite a task to wade through these shows and find the true gems. Don't get me wrong, the Grateful Dead are one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. But, to quote David Crosby, they were either really great or they were playing pure dog poo. So, what's the point of all this rambling? I want to start my own reviews for some GD shows. Right now I am listening to some of the 1972 tour of Europe. There are some average shows, good shows, and absolutely mind shattering shows. And I want to chronicle that somehow. So, when I figure it out I will let you know. Peace out.
I have been listening to some great music here lately. My musical tastes have always been on the eclectic side, but I've recently discovered a musical genre that I previously loathed. That genre would be rap, or hip-hop or whatever the crap it's called nowadays (my whiteness is really showing through). More specifically, a little niche of rap from the underground. That's right. Underground Hip Hop artists have been dominating my playlist for the last few weeks. I like to call it rap with a conscience. So far my favorite artist of this genre is De La Soul. I also like Mos Def and similar artists (especially the Lyricist Lounge compilation).
I've also been listening to music that's a little closer to my ecletic roots. The National is a little band from Middle America that plays some really good stuff. Apparently, other people think so too. I haven't heard a bad song out of these guys yet.
Just where did little ol me find all this great music, you may ask. At one of my new favorite web sites, The Hype Machine. Go check it out. It's pseudo-legal and won't bring the RIAA down on your head.
